Just a few short months ago we were watching CVOID-19 from across the ocean and having bouts of far off compassion and prayers for the losses happening to our brothers and sisters in China.
Now, here we are, with our own quarantine and sheltering orders, wondering when things will be back to normal again. Fear can come at us in lots of different ways but, this pandemic and everything that has come with it has posed lots of physical challenges as well as mental and emotional challenges that would benefit us to not overlook. Many emotion will surface and that is normal and to be expected in this crisis. Emotions are messengers so we can see this as a rare opportunity for our inner emotional and spiritual health as well as the health of our nations and our world.
So while we all patiently (or not so patiently) wait for this storm to pass, why not use this time to weed out the deep internal roots that have needed to be pulled for far too long.
Illness on a worldwide scale can unearth internal emotional illness that's been dormant for decades.
Our fears can rise up stronger than ever as we get triggered by unresolved wounds from our past and that can be truly terrifying.
The Cycle of Anxiety
The cycle of anxiety can be vicious and once it starts going it can be very difficult to stop as it feeds on our negative thoughts. Both negative unconscious and conscious thoughts of all kinds can feed this monster. But, there is a store house of hope that we can use to stop this beast in its tracks. You know this to be sure if you've struggled with anxiety before. While treating the symptom is always beneficial, shouldn't the goal be to treat the roort so the symptom of anxiety dwindles into the mostly/very manageable categories?
Let's look at a few reason why healing our inner self can change everything.
“Healing yourself takes more courage than trying to fix the world ever did.”
Healing our internal emotional and mental chaos changes our future and our effect on others.
When we get to the root of why we see the world and others the way we do, we can begin to accept and heal what's there and choose to forever adjust the way we encounter these things in our everyday lives. This causes a ripple effect of healthy choices and living with greater compassion for yourself and others. This changes the world in seen and unseen ways.
Healing our internal emotional and mental patterns can improve our health and our body can even begin to produce healthier cells.
“Thoughts are real, physical things that occupy mental realestate. Moment by moment, every day, you are changing the structure of your brain through your thinking. When we hope, it is an activity of the mind that changes the structure of our brain in a positive and normal direction.” ― Dr. Caroline Leaf,
Now that we've looked at some great reasons to take this opportunity to work on what's probably already been stirred up anyway, I invite you to take the leap to embark on your healing journey.
