Cathy Lewis, Lewis Counseling, Christian Counseling in Columbus, Ohio

I would like to help.

My name is Cathy Lewis. I'm the founder and owner of Lewis Counseling and have provided counseling services in the Columbus Ohio area for nearly twenty years. Providing counseling has been fulfilling and satisfying work as I help others travel through the storms of life.

Like many people, I am no stranger to life’s troubles and the fear and pain they can cause. Looking back, I see the years I spent in counseling for my own brokenness as the best investment I could have made. With the support a counselor, I was able to heal from debilitating depression and anxiety, recover from abuse, and wrestle through the questions and confusion those things presented to my Christian faith. Facing painful relationship problems left me aching, and barely holding on to hope at times. But with the support of my Christian counselor, I began to recover my life and a deep sense of security in God that allowed me to face the challenges of life that still come. I didn't find these things alone, and you don't have to either.

My personal journey through darkness and pain is partially what led me into professional counseling. In the decades since my first counseling appointment, I have gained a wealth of professional expertise through schooling, ongoing education, and additional certifications. I bring nearly twenty years of professional experience to my work today, but I also bring the tenderness and compassion that comes from walking my own broken road. It would be a privilege to support you if you are ready to start your journey of healing.

  • Do you accept insurance?
I have chosen not work with insurance companies. This allows me to create a safe and supportive environment for my clients to work through their challenges and achieve their goals without the interference and constraints of insurance companies.
  • What is your rate per session?
My rate per session is $140 for 50minutes. I believe that counseling is a financial investment in your mental and emotional health rather than an expense that is worth the investment of time and finances. Please feel free to contact me with questions.
  • What age people do you work with?
I specialize in working with individuals both women and men aged 21 and older. My counseling services are tailored to meet the unique needs and challenges that adults face as they navigate life's many transitions, stresses, and uncertainties. • Do you provide addiction counseling?
Addiction counseling is a very specialized service and requires additional training. Please seek out a qualified addiction counselor. I do not provide addiction counseling services.
  • If I start counseling is there any obligation to continue?
No. There is no obligation to continue. The decision to start and continue counseling is entirely up to the individual seeking support. I understand that therapy is a significant commitment of time, energy, and resources, and I want my clients to feel empowered to make the best choices for their own wellbeing. If at any point during counseling, you feel that it is not helping or you are not comfortable continuing, you have the right to discontinue the services. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment for all clients, whether they choose to continue with me or not.
  • How long does the counseling process usually take?
Every person's journey is different and therefore, the length of the counseling process will vary from person to person. While some clients may only desire a few sessions to work through a particular issue, others may desire ongoing support and guidance over a longer period of time. Ultimately, the length of the counseling process will depend on your unique needs and goals, and I will work with you to ensure that your treatment plan is tailored to your specific situation. If you have any questions about the counseling process or would like to schedule an initial consultation, please don't hesitate to contact me.
  • What is the difference between Christian clinical counseling and Christian spiritual direction?
Christian clinical counseling services and Christian spiritual direction services are two distinct forms of support and guidance provided by Christian professionals. While they both incorporate Christian beliefs and values into their practices, they serve different purposes and have distinct approaches: Christian clinical counseling services are primarily focused on addressing mental and emotional health issues that are more complex and require a professional level of care by someone trained to diagnose and treat deeper issues. Christian clinical counselors are trained mental health professionals who integrate Christian principles and values into their therapeutic approaches. They help individuals deal with issues like anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and relationship problems from a psychological and emotional perspective. Spiritual direction services, on the other hand, are more centered on the individual's spiritual journey and growth. Though a person may have similar emotional issues to those mentioned above those issues are not as significant as those listed above. Spiritual directors help individuals explore and deepen their relationship with God, their faith, and their spiritual practices. Christian spiritual directors provide guidance and support for individuals seeking to discern God's presence and develop a deeper understanding of their spiritual life. Having certifications in both of these modes of care, I am able to draw on each approach to provide a more holistic approach to your needs and challenges. Interested in finding out more?
